Before We Were Free

Anita's mom had let them go back to school since the Washburn's had moved in the compound with them. Anita had spent most of that night picking out something to wear. She had went into Lucinda's room, and asked her what she was going to tell the kids at school. Lucinda told Anita to tell them that they had the chicken pox. Anita asked why because they didn't. Lucinda rolled her eyes at herself in the mirror, trying to stay patient with her.

          I think that Lucinda is right about lying to the kids at school. They wouldn't want anyone to now that
 the SIM were at their house. I'm really anxious to see what happens on their first day back to school. I wanna know if Anita is going to tell the truth or a lie.

The next day they hang out Anita takes Sammy to explore the rest of the compound. While walking around the compound they past the bachelor pad the Anita's uncle had built last year.Its a tiny castia with wooden shutters that latch up from the inside with a big padlock on the door. She said that her uncles and his friends used to sit in it half the night talking. When they come in the view casita Anita stops in her tracks. The casita  was cracked open. It had been shut up since last summer.Sammy had suggested that the maid had left it open while cleaning. Anita knows that Chucha doesn't clean it. When they move closer to the door they see someone moving in the shadows. They start running back to the house. Anita tells Sammy not to let their parents know yet or they won't let them hang in the compound.

          I'm kind of creeped out by a moving shadow in the casita. I'm glad they didn't tell their parents. I do at the same time think it's dangerous, but i think they would. I really want to know who or what is in the casita. I kind of wondered was it Anita's uncle.

The day that the Washburns moved in Anita had made friends with Mr.Washburns son, Sammy. She had showed him around the compound showing him the most interesting parts. She didn't get a chance to show him everything, because his mom had called him in to fix his bed for the night.When he was leaving he had said, "see you later alligator". She knew what he meant, but she had taken it personally.She didn't like being called something so hideous.

         I think that she has made a friend. I curious to see where they're relationship will get. They plan on hanging out together again tomorrow to finish exploring the compound. Anita is excited about hanging out with him tomorrow.I want to know what they're going to to tomorrow

Two weeks after Anita's cousins had left Mr.Washburn, the American council, had came for a visit. They went into the study. While they were talking Anita was in the hallway listening. They had called Anita into the room getting ready to tell her whats going to happen. They told her that Mr.Washburn was going to be moving into the compound with them. He has two kids and a wife. They thought having a member of the U.S. council would surly make the SIM go away.

          I'm curious to find out whats going to happen.I wonder if there plan too get the SIM to leave is going to work. I also am wondering will Anita have a new friend, because she has been lonely since her cousin Carla had left. I feel like the book is just beginning.

Lucinda told Anita that their uncle and some of his friends had planned to get rid of the dictator. She asked why are people trying to get rid of him when everybody has his picture up. She thought they liked him. All of their uncles friends have been arrested and hes the only one in a out. She asked why don't they move to the America's. Lucinda said that they can't leave, because their uncle might come back and need their help.

          When I found out why the SIM were there I was surprised. Their uncle has not been mentioned but once. This really surprised me. I wonder why they wanted to get rid of the dictator. Lucinda had said that everyone has to have his picture up in the houses and schools...Makes me wonder.

Right now in the book they are terrified that something might happen to them. Every morning when Antia's dad starts up the care to go to work one of the cas follows him. Anita's mom had told her too stop asking questions,because she didn't know the answer to any of them.When her mom stopps answering her questions Anita promised her older sister a back rubb if she told her what's going on.Lucinda finally told her whats going on.

          Im very excited to hear whats really going on. I have been thinking what it might be, but now im ready to know. I wonder if im going to be dissipointed or intrested to move on in the book.

The Day the Music Died

This Article was about how school official had banned music From the school district. The ban had came from a parent who was upset about and offensive song that was on the bus radio. The Super Intendent had promoted the ban,so did most of the teachers. The students had protested about the conflict. They had came to the conclusion that music will still be banned from the elementary and middle schools, and the buses will be music free, but they have let music back in the high schools.

Right now in the story the SIM have left searching for the Garcia's elsewhere, but they stay parked in the drive way like what there looking for is going to automatically show up at Anita's doorstep. Anita's father says that they should just ignore them and go on with normal life, but even Anita sees that hes not acting the same. Anita is confused by going on with normal life. They have to sleep in there parents room with the door locked, and they cant go to school cause there afraid something might happen to them. Through these days they are still parked in the driveway.

              I think that the mom and dad are scared. They tell the kids to act like normal, but they can't act normal themselves. They don't understand why the SIM are in there driveway, but they dont want to start any trouble. I think that they should move, so that nothing will happen to the family or the kids. I don't know if they will be safe but its curious to know what there next steps are going to be.

Right Now in the story Anita is frightened.A dozen of black Volkswagen's are coming up there driveway.A whole bunch of men came out of the cars, before they even came to a complete stop.They came in asking for Carlos Garcia, and his family.Once Anita's mom said no they asked to search around they house. Anita ran to Chucha who is getting upset over the muddy bootprints these men are leaving behind.She asks Chucha who they are, she says "SIM" meaning secret police.

              Personally I would be scared too if police who look into peoples disappearances were searching my house. In the story they haven told us who Carlos Garcia is. There's a lot of people going missing in there neighbor hood, and nobody knows where these people are going. I wonder who's next.

Right now in the book Anita's cousins have left. Her old babysitter Chucha is moving in with them. Anita says she feels safer with her around. Chucha has been apart of there family for a while, she what they would call a babysitter.While Anita is helping Chucha move in. The first thing that they bring to the house in chuchas coffin, whch is also her bed. Anita get creeped out. Chucha says she wants to be prepared for the next life.

              Right now im getting a little curious about whats gonna happened next. Anitas dad won't tell her why thy can't move to the U.S., and hes having the nanny move in with them. Everybody on the block is gone, but them. Curious to see what happens next.

is about a girl named Anita. Anita lives in the Dominican Republic. Most of her family has moved or been imagrated to the United States. Shs has a police officer harassing her family. Her dad has been getting phonecalls about butterflies and some guy named Mr.Smith.

I am really excited to get into this book. It seems like it would be kind of a heart felt but mysterious story. You can telll alot about a book from looking at the description. Im not sure what the book will bring but i cant wait to fine out.

Beofre we were Free

Whats happening in the book now is that Anita and her cousin Carla was in class the principle had called Carla out of the room. Anita had got very nervous. When Carla had came back in the room the teacher had told Anita to help Carla pack everything that she owned. When they had got home they were told that Carla and her family where leaving in a few hours to go live in the United States.

       Personally I can relate to Anita's situation. I was born in Chicago, but my family had all moved to Indiana. My closest family had started moving back to Chicago. One by one. Not all of them are gone, but some of my closest cousins had left. I know how she feel, sad ,upset ,and angry.                          

Homeboy The Rescue

This story is about how three boys had problems in life. they didn't have a very good family back round . there was no one there to support them it there decisions in life. So they all joined a gang.They started on drugs, and crimes, and they became criminals. Once that happened they decided that the gang world wasn't one for them. Then they found Homeboy Industries ran by Father Boyle. He helped ex-cons and gang members get a second chance at life by getting a job earning money, and staying out of trouble.

Surfs Up

I think she was really brave during the rebuild of her life. After all that happened to her she still doesn't let that bring her down. I think that the fact that she went back to having a normal life like nothing happened was really great. Even though her story was all on the news he didn't let it get to her. She probably did want her arm back, but look at what a great role model she can be for little kids. Her story can be a good life lesson if she lets it be. She back surfing now doing what she loves. The one that surprises me is the fact that shes not traumatized by the water. But she brave,and we could all learn from her.

Teaching Chess and Life

I think that Carlos learned a lot of good life lessons from his mentor. Personally i don't have a adult figure that I look up too. Being in chess, and being with his mentor really helped him stay out of trouble.The article has a lot of really good morals. Someone needing help with life,friends,and family problem could really use a mentor like Chia. I have a hobby to keep me from the bad crowd that i used to hang out with. I sing so i joined a choir. It helps me relive stress. I also dance im on a church funded dance team. This hobbies really help take me away from all the extra stress so i can definitley feel where carlos is coming from.
