When Anita goes back to school nobody is talking about her disappearance for two weeks there are two more important things in motion. Christmas, and Sammy being added to there class. Mrs.Brown has Sammy introduce himself, then has the class say there name one by one. Then Mrs.Brown tells Anita's class that they are going to play a game called Secret Santa. Each person will have someone that they will have to send letters to and get small gifts.

This reminds me of the time at my church when they gave every one a Secret Santa. We have to get that person a special gift without them finding out that u are there Secret Santa.

Right now in the story Anitas mom is trying to get closer to the Washburns. She has invited other Dominican ladies so that Mrs.Washburn can increase her Spanish vocabulary. They have a new maid to help Chucha. Anitas mom says that that they have to watch what they say around the new maid because she's "new".
Quote "Although Mami is trying to save money,there's too much work keeping up with all the houses in the compound for just Chucha.So Mami hired a young girl to help out. But we have to be careful what we say around her".

This reminds me of the time when we had got new forster kids in our house. My mom told me that we couldn't act how we normally act and that we had to watch what comes out our mouth.

Right Now in the book the SIM have left from in front of there house. The night before they go to school Anita asks her sister what she is supposed to tell her friends when they ask why she hasn't been going to school. Her sister tells her to say that they had the chicken pox.She didn't understand why she had to lie to her friends.
Quote: "If people ask, tell them we had the chicken pox"

I think that when she goes to school she will be overwhelmed by questions. Eventually shes going to to tell her friends who was at her house, and why.

Making Connections: In the story Amigo brothers Felix and Antonio both had a dream to be professional boxers. I, myself have big dreams to be a Psychiatrist.

Anita's mom had let them go back to school since the Washburn's had moved in the compound with them. Anita had spent most of that night picking out something to wear. She had went into Lucinda's room, and asked her what she was going to tell the kids at school. Lucinda told Anita to tell them that they had the chicken pox. Anita asked why because they didn't. Lucinda rolled her eyes at herself in the mirror, trying to stay patient with her.

          I think that Lucinda is right about lying to the kids at school. They wouldn't want anyone to now that
 the SIM were at their house. I'm really anxious to see what happens on their first day back to school. I wanna know if Anita is going to tell the truth or a lie.

The next day they hang out Anita takes Sammy to explore the rest of the compound. While walking around the compound they past the bachelor pad the Anita's uncle had built last year.Its a tiny castia with wooden shutters that latch up from the inside with a big padlock on the door. She said that her uncles and his friends used to sit in it half the night talking. When they come in the view casita Anita stops in her tracks. The casita  was cracked open. It had been shut up since last summer.Sammy had suggested that the maid had left it open while cleaning. Anita knows that Chucha doesn't clean it. When they move closer to the door they see someone moving in the shadows. They start running back to the house. Anita tells Sammy not to let their parents know yet or they won't let them hang in the compound.

          I'm kind of creeped out by a moving shadow in the casita. I'm glad they didn't tell their parents. I do at the same time think it's dangerous, but i think they would. I really want to know who or what is in the casita. I kind of wondered was it Anita's uncle.

Before We Were Free

The day that the Washburns moved in Anita had made friends with Mr.Washburns son, Sammy. She had showed him around the compound showing him the most interesting parts. She didn't get a chance to show him everything, because his mom had called him in to fix his bed for the night.When he was leaving he had said, "see you later alligator". She knew what he meant, but she had taken it personally.She didn't like being called something so hideous.

         I think that she has made a friend. I curious to see where they're relationship will get. They plan on hanging out together again tomorrow to finish exploring the compound. Anita is excited about hanging out with him tomorrow.I want to know what they're going to to tomorrow
